 | Royal College of Science & Technology is a middle level college, licensed by Kenya’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science & Technology and the Ministry of Health’s Pharmacy and Poisons Board and accredited by Kenya Institute of Management (KIM).
At Royal College of Science and Technology, we offer certificate, diploma and advanced-diploma courses in Health, Management and Information Communication Technology (ICT). The College is situated in Ruiru Town, (about 500 metres off the Thika Superhighway) about 20km North of Nairobi in Kenya. It is governed by a Board of Directors who posses many years of experience in teaching and training in higher education and management of educational institutions.
For training in health, we have fully equipped laboratories offering Pharmacy, Biomedical Laboratory Technology, food sciences, applied biology, Science laboratory technician courses and much more. Under management, we have programs in Business Management, Sales/ marketing, Purchasing/Supplies Management and the programs are increasing. The ICT department offers computer literacy for everyone. Additionally, RCST offers certificate and diploma courses in ICT for those who wish to gain competence in ICT by sitting for external examinations. The college computer laboratory is well equipped to allow for one-student one-computer learning environment. The department is also offering some specialized accounting software packages like QuickBooks and Pastel. The numbers of courses offered in the computer department are also increasing.
Research Program
In partnership with the industry and other collaborators, the college is in the process of setting up a research programs unit, whose output is expected to solve problems identified in the industry and communities. Students and lecturers will take part in this program. For some of RCST courses, a research project is a course requirement before graduating. In addition, the unit will mount short courses for students from other colleges and universities in research methods, data analysis and report writing. The department has personnel to code and inputs data in the computer for researchers from other institutions of higher learning.
College Fees
Situated in Ruiru, RCST enjoys lower infrastructural running costs than many other institutions. These benefits are passed directly to the students in form of low course fees. In Ruiru, accommodation is cheap in and there are no transport costs as the college is accessible from residential areas. As a result, Royal College of Science and Technology is the most affordable government recognized high quality training institution in Kenya. We intend to remain so. |
