| Mombasa MTC was started in 1948 to train plain enrolled nurses and midwives at the lady Gigg Maternity Hospital, C.P.G.H. in 1976 the enrolled community nursing Programme was introduced and the plain enrolled nursing training in Kenya to start the integrated KRCHN course at diploma level. March 2005 class is the 35th Pre- service class in March 2004 M.T.C Mombasa was also chosen among three (3) other Colleges to Pilot upgrading course in KRCHN through distance learning March 2006 is the 4th class to successfully pass their examinations.
So far, the college has qualified 2150 registered community health nurses who are serving the nation. Some are working in other countries such as U.S.A Namibia and Botswana
Mombasa MTC is one of the largest schools in the country. It has a population of more than 700 students in three departments. Nursing, Clinical medicine and pharmacy. We can not train health workers on theory only. We appreciate the sacrifice of nurses and mentors in the practical areas; CPGH, AGA KHAN Hospital, JOCHAM Hospital Mombasa Hospital, Pandya Hospital, Municipal Council Of Mombasa, all district hospitals and health centers within Coast Province
